nsaio, "new jewellery from Idar-Oberstein", has stood for the presentation of works by students at Trier University of Applied Sciences in Idar-Oberstein for 20 years now. It is a kind of unifying bracket for very different works, because we attach particular importance to promoting individuality and personal style in as wide a range as possible. It is therefore not surprising that the primary aim of the gemstone and jewellery department is to support students on their way to becoming free-spirited but critical people and, above all, independent artists with a unique identity. This exhibition shows works by students from the last 15 years and thus also provides an insight into the development of the specialisation. As the location of Idar-Oberstein suggests, the Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts degree courses focus not only on free artistic work, jewellery and adornment, but also - and often above all - on gemstones. They do not have to be present in every piece of work, but an attitude towards the material should be developed. Studying at a gemstone centre requires this engagement.

This exhibition is part of the "Idar-Oberstein schmückt sich" exhibition programme, a cooperation between the Jakob Bengel Foundation, the city of Idar-Oberstein and Trier University of Applied Sciences, Idar-Oberstein site.
