The gemstone apothecary deals with the psychology of superstition, which manifests itself in the belief in healing stones and amulet jewelry. Abstracted psychopharmacology, botanical remedies, inkblots and lucky charms form the framework for the "healing" stones. Drawing on the efficacy of faith or placebo and the psychosocial functions of jewelry, "The Gemstone Apothecary" explores the reflexive acceptance of beliefs that can serve as a balm for the human psyche in uncertain times.
