Like any other cultural monument, an industrial monument is built history. But not the beautiful and sublime history of castles and churches, but built economic history; the history of dirt, noise and hard work, but also of technical efficiency, a high degree of specialisation, inventiveness and entrepreneurship. It is a journey through the layers of time of the Bengel industrial monument in Idar-Oberstein and a review of the restoration history to date.
