Revision – between tradition and innovation

We are delighted to invite you to the opening of the exhibition “REVISION: Between Tradition and Innovation” as part of the Idar-Oberstein schmückt sich exhibition programme:

on Thursday, 25 June 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at Villa Bengel and via livestream on the Jakob Bengel Foundation’s Instagram channel (jakobbengel), with welcoming addresses by Peter Wenzel and Prof. Theo Smeets, as well as an introduction by Dr Kateřina Nora Nováková, curator at the State Museum of Glass and Jewellery in Jablonec nad Nisou, Czech Republic.

The exhibition presents a unique fusion of historical costume jewellery and modern design. As part of the project, students from five European universities have transformed Art Nouveau and Art Déco costume jewellery into contemporary fashion accessories (Technical University of Liberec, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław and Trier University of Applied Sciences, Campus Gemstones and Jewellery in Idar-Oberstein).
